REPAIRS & WARRANTY INFO

We require a valid RA (Return Authorization) be issued for all items being sent to us for repair evaluation or warranty claim. If you have an item from one of our brands that requires attention, please phone or email us with details of the product and problem. We will issue an RA for an approved item in the form of a PDF document sent to you via email or fax. Please print the document, fill out completely and include with your shipment to us. Your shipment must be sent to us freight prepaid and we advise you to insure the package for full retail value. Return shipping back to you is an additional charge to the repair in all instances with the exception of approved Warranty repairs (UPS Ground only at no-charge for warranties). This includes items that are not repairable and/or total damage.

SCHOEPS REPAIR OPTIONS
 

Schoeps microphones must be sent to the factory in Germany for repair. We at Redding Audio have a system in place to facilitate the whole process for you. If you wish to send your Schoeps to the factory directly, you have that option and must contact Schoeps for further direction. You must advise them you have elected to send your items directly or they will send you back to us. Please read on to fully understand all the particulars of having your Schoeps Microphone repaired before you request a Return Authorization form.

With Redding Audio, you have two options for Schoeps factory service:

  • We send your Schoeps in a batch with multiple items from several different customers. This is the most common and economical method. We send a batch typically every four weeks. Sometimes the schedule is delayed because we need a minimum amount of items to keep costs in line. Freight, international business related costs and handling fees are minimized because they are divided amongst several items. Repair lead times can have a broad range of typically 4 weeks, and potentially longer from the day we ship to them. This is the default method unless agreed otherwise.
     

  • We send only your Schoeps in a shipment exclusively. This is a less common and very expensive method of having your microphone repaired, however can be quite expeditious. You will be responsible for all charges related to the shipment. Please contact us prior to specifically discuss this option. In such a case

SCHOEPS | M221 & Capsules
 

As of June 2018 Schoeps no longer offers service attempts on M221 Series tube microphones or their capsules e.g. M934B or C. Spare parts, tubes and materials needed are no longer available.   

SCHOEPS | MK 6 Capsules
 

As of July 2018 Schoeps no longer offers service on MK 6 or other 3-pattern capsule types.

SCHOEPS | CMTS 301/CMTS 501
 

As of May 2018 Schoeps no longer offers service attempts on CMTS 301 U and CMTS 501 U and variants of the same type. Spare parts and materials needed are no longer available.   

SCHOEPS | CMT Series
 

As of May 2018 Schoeps no longer offers service on CMT Series and variants of the same type. Spare parts and materials needed are no longer available.   

SCHOEPS | VMS 2/52 or VSR 5
 

As of July 2018 Schoeps no longer offers service on VMS 02, VMS 52 and variants of the same type and the VSR 5 studio preamp.

ESTIMATES
 

You can request an Estimate* for your repair item(s). There is a box you must check on the RA form. The Estimate procedure may differ depending on the brand. As a rule there is no charge for an estimate when the repair is carried out. A bench or diagnostics fee may be charged if a repair is declined with the addition of international shipping costs where applicable.

 

Ambient Estimates are assessed by an Ambient technician after they have performed a complete diagnostic procedure at the factory. 

 

SCHOEPS repair costs can be predetermined to a certain degree before sending to Germany. The repairs are billed according to service flat rates. The cost mainly depends on the age of the product. We differentiate between new (0-10 years), older (10-20 years) and vintage (over 20 years) products. Based on these parameters with the addition of probable international shipping and handling costs we can give you an estimated low and high cost. 

Important: Repairs of capsules and amplifiers are always treated separately. With a screwed microphone (CMC amplifier + MK capsule), two items will appear on the repair bill, one for the work on the capsule and one for the work on the electronics. This parallel processing also applies to all microphones that ex works consist of a fixed capsule/amplifier combination, eg CMIT 5, SuperCMIT, CCM, MSTC, CMH.  

If a repair would not make economic sense or would be technically infeasible, there will be no estimate charge. 

DECLINED ESTIMATE FEES
 

*A $125.00 minimum charge will apply to declined Estimates sent overseas to the factory, per item. This minimum charge also applies to items that are found to be not repairable or have no defect by a Factory Technician. This fee is inclusive of the international freight charges and factory bench charges we incur by sending your product(s) to the factory. If we are not charged on a non-warranty item for any particular reason, you will only be charged your portion of freight, international business related costs and/or handling fees.

WARRANTY | RADIUS
 

RADIUS products purchased from an authorized reseller in the United States are covered by a 1-year warranty to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the original owner. A copy of the retail receipt from your dealer is required. All items are to be shipped to Redding Audio freight Prepaid by sender. If an item we receive qualifies for warranty coverage, we will repair or replace at our option and return ship to you at no charge via UPS Ground. Any expedited shipping method other than UPS Ground will be billed at your expense. This warranty does not apply to defects caused by misuse, abuse or altered goods. There are no expressed or implied warranties that extend beyond the warranty made here.

WARRANTY | SCHOEPS
 

Schoeps products purchased from an authorized reseller in the United States or Canada have a 2-year manufacturer's guarantee.

 

By registering the product on the SCHOEPS website, the warranty of capsules, microphones and amplifiers can be extended to 10 years free of charge. The extended warranty only applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable. In the case of new goods, the guarantee generally applies from the date of purchase. The goods must have been purchased after September 1st, 2019 and registered within one year.
 

Schoeps reserves the right to limit the guarantee if there are significantly more than 2 years between the date of sale to the retailer and the date of purchase by the customer. During the warranty period, we guarantee that the product will function properly for its normal intended use, provided that it has not been mishandled. Signs of heavy wear, dirt build-up or significant liquid residue will void the warranty.

A copy of the retail receipt from your dealer is required for Warranty matters. All items are to be shipped to Redding Audio freight Prepaid by sender. If an item we receive qualifies for warranty coverage, we will repair or replace at our option and return ship to you at no charge via UPS Ground. Any expedited shipping method other than UPS Ground will be billed at customers expense. This warranty does not apply to defects caused by misuse, abuse or altered goods. PAYMENT
 

Redding Audio, LLC. requires a valid major credit card* secured in advance to process a non-warranty repair - no exceptions. Your repair bill and return shipping to you will be billed to this credit card. We do not accept Purchase Orders, checks or third party payments (e.g. Production company you were working for when mic got damaged) for repairs. Your repair will not be facilitated until we have the required information. No charges will be made to your credit card until the completion of service. You will be notified when your repair is complete and being despatched to you. 


*Redding Audio, LLC. accepts Visa, Master Card and American Express for repairs.

WARRANTY | CABLE TECHNIQUES
 

Cable Techniques products purchased from an authorized reseller are covered by a 1-year warranty to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the original owner. The use of “after market” cables with the Battery Bud system voids all warranties. A copy of the retail receipt from your dealer is required. All items are to be shipped to Redding Audio freight Prepaid by sender. If an item we receive qualifies for warranty coverage, we will repair or replace at our option and return ship to you at no charge via UPS Ground. Any expedited shipping method other than UPS Ground will be billed at your expense. This warranty does not apply to defects caused by misuse, abuse or altered goods. There are no expressed or implied warranties that extend beyond the warranty made here.

WARRANTY | VT
 

Voice Technologies products purchased from an authorized reseller in the United States and Canada are covered by a 1-year warranty to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the original owner. A copy of the retail receipt from your dealer is required. If an item we receive qualifies for warranty coverage, we will repair or replace at our option and return ship to you at no charge via UPS Ground. Any expedited shipping method other than UPS Ground will be billed at your expense. This warranty does not apply to defects caused by misuse, abuse or altered goods. WARRANTY | AMBIENT
 

Ambient products purchased from an authorized reseller in the United States and Canada are covered by a 1-year warranty to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the original owner.
